Well known to many outdoor enthusiasts is Missouri's purple paint law. The law provides for
private landowners to define the boundaries of their property by marking trees and fence
posts with purple paint. Designating property lines with purple paint is equivalent to posting
"no trespassing" signs and both methods are readily recognized and upheld by our courts.
While there are many miles of public national forest land surrounding ArdPark, scattered
amongst it visitors will see some private property, particularly on the riverways. It is also
common to see purple paint on trees along roadways and the like. Please be respectful of any
purple paint and fencing you may encounter. No lawful admittance is permitted across those
boundaries.
