Each ArdPark facility includes a large rock enclosed ring where all campfires must be contained.
Guests are asked to please refrain from tossing glass, aluminum, plastic and other
non-burnable items into the campfire pits. Your security deposit will be forfeited, without
notice, if we have to spend time removing your non-burnable trash from the fire pits.
Forest fires are always a serious concern. Guests must exercise common sense good judgment
when choosing to enjoy a campfire. The size of your campfire should be proportionate to the
weather conditions. Consideration should particularly be given to windy and dry weather. The
All American and The Pines cabins have a water spigot and garden hose conveniently located
near the campfire ring. The Courtois Cabana campground does not have running water on site so
guests should use extra caution with fire there, including having a bucket or two of river water
nearby if necessary.
Gather it...
There is often lots of dead wood on the ground at the All American, The Pines and the Courtois Cabana. Guests
are welcome to gather any dead wood found on the ground at ArdPark for their bonfires. If you think you might
collect sizeable wood from the ground, you may want to consider packing along a wheelbarrow or wagon.
Under no circumstance is anyone permitted to cut down standing timber, regardless of whether it is dead or
alive. Guests may use their own ax or hatchet to split dead wood they gather from the ground. Axes and
hatchets must NOT be used on any standing trees, dead or alive, and the use of chainsaws anywhere, anytime
is strictly prohibited. A permit is required to gather firewood from national forest land so guests should be sure they are
removing wood from ArdPark property and not the national forest unless they have a permit to do so.
Buy it from independent sellers along the way...
If you are traveling through Steelville to reach ArdPark you will find several individuals with roadside stands
selling firewood along Highway 8.
Buy it from ArdPark...
You can order firewood from us when making your reservation. Unlike most firewood sellers, we provide you a
nice variety of sizes of split logs along with some kindling. When ordered in advance, your wood will be dry
and neatly stacked near the outdoor fire pit when you arrive (weather permitting). If you are uncertain about
your firewood needs when making your reservation, you will have an opportunity to purchase it after you
arrive. Our firewood rates can be accessed through the link below.
Bring it...
If you are a Missouri resident, you can bring your own wood with you if you can attest that the wood was
obtained in Missouri. The Missouri Department of Conservation strongly recommends against importation of
wood from other states due to the on-going threat of the gypsy moth and other unwanted tree-killing insects, and
ArdPark strictly abides by that recommendation.
Guests have a few firewood options...
