When you visit public swimming access on the rivers, please bring along a trash bag or other waste container if you expect to have any trash. Most public accesses don't have a trash barrel and if they do, they're usually full. Please remember to treadlightly! and pack out what you bring in. |
Huzzah Conservation Area (Steelville, Missouri) Comprised of more than 6,000 forest acres, visitors to the Huzzah Conservation Area can easily access the Meramec River and Huzzah Creek waters for swimming. The Ozark Trail, including a portion of it known as the Colonel Plassmayer Wildlife Viewing Trail, transects much of the property. There are concrete parking lots and gravel bar canoe launches. Bird's Nest Access (Steelville, Missouri) Owned and maintained by Crawford County, this single acre comes equipped with a concrete boat ramp to the Meramec River and plenty of room for swimming. Area Information Area Map |
Scotts Ford Access (Steelville, Missouri) This 34 acre forested area provides gravel bar access to the Meramec River. Area Information Area Map |
Onondaga Cave State Park (Leasburg, Missouri) Just on the other side of the Huzzah Conservation Area, about 20 miles from ArdPark, is Onondaga Cave State Park. The Meramec River is accessible here for swimming, there is a canoe launch, playground equipment, and of course the great Onondaga Cave! Area Information Area Map |
Riverview Access (Cuba, Missouri) Just under 6 acres, this conservation area provides swimming and concrete ramp access to the Meramec River. Area Information Area Map |
Blue Springs Creek Conservation Area (Bourbon, Missouri) Blue Springs Creek flows through this property and access to the Meramec River is available as well. Area Information Area Map |
Campbell Bridge Access (Bourbon, Missouri) On this small conservation property there is a canoe launching area, a concrete boat ramp, and plenty of swimming room on the Meramec River. Area Information Area Map |
Woodson K. Woods Memorial Conservation Area (St. James, Missouri) Mostly forest covers this 5,600 acre conservation land with swimming access to the Meramec River at Highway 8. Floaters can take a 9 mile trip from here to Scotts Ford Access. Area Information Area Map |

Steelville City Pool (Steelville, Missouri) The Steelville Community Park offers a full size swimming pool to the public for a nominal fee. The pool operates daily from 12 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. (573) 775-4400 Area Information |

Mark Twain National Forest Within 3 to 7 miles from our cabins, guests will find several public accesses to the Huzzah and Courtois Creeks. We prefer not to make these locations known here. A local area guest map with directions to each river access is provided to guests staying at the All American and The Pines cabins. |
